SOP/Statement of Purpose/ GTE Requirement -Australia (Abroad Study)

 Letter Statement for GTE Requirement

I am ……, born on September 12, 1999, at Ajirkot-05, at Gorkha in Nepal from where I learned the significance of toil with moral values. I completed +2 level education in Science from Nepal in 2017 securing 67.60% in aggregate. Highlighting my personal information, I own a Nepali passport of number “1000000” as my travel document and Nepal citizenship. Talking about my family, my father, Mr. Raghu Nath Acharya, is a 60 years old government officer, and my mother, Mrs. Durga Acharya, is a shareholder of Ozone Investment private limited who is an optimistic, kind, and encouraging woman that I envision. Further, after attaining good grades, I have never failed to make a cherubic visage on my parents’ part as well. My parents have been with me ever since my birth, not only nurturing and educating me but also keeping me in physical, mental, and emotional satisfaction which every son would be proud of. And, they are the reason I am today and they deserve credit for every appreciated deed I have done to date. My parents have an annual income of NPR. 2,087, 876.00 from their business. My father has collected NRP 3,300,250.31 lakhs (equivalent to 39,695.10 AUD) at Sunrise Bank for my study, he prefers extending my knowledge in the educational field first. This is how I am aiming at pursuing a Diploma of Information Technology at Ransford Institute of Business and Technology for accelerating my educational career in the forthcoming era owing to its scope in my nation considerably.

Ever since I was a child, I had most remarkable characteristics like curiosity to learn new topics. My keen interest in learning new ideas, when combined with my inner desire to reach a degree of excellence in every work I do, has always enabled me to acquire significant knowledge as well as led me through a successful educational career, where I successfully completed my School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Bagmati Boarding School securing 82.25% in 2015 A.D. My academic score during my school studies clearly highlights my keen interest in logical subjects. I scored 83 in Mathematics, 73 in Science, and 89 in Computer Science out of 100 in each subject on my SLC Examination which dragged me even more toward the technical field. Therefore, I decided to choose the science stream for my further education. Hence, after much research and visit to different high schools in my hometown, I decided to join Valmiki Shiksha Sadan (VSS) as a +2 student of Science. As hard work pays off, I was once again blessed with first division attaining 67.60%in this field, too. However, the marks on my mark sheet barely sum up what I have learned and what personality I have acquired in those two precious years (2015-17) at VSS.

The fundamental reason why I have an inclination toward Information Technology is my passion. I can remember my interest has inclined towards modern technologies and computing since my early learning period during my school days, where I was introduced to the ‘QBASIC’ language and how computers can be used and programmed. I was also taught about computer networking and security. And, every time a new chapter was introduced my curiosity level rose accordingly. Further, I took Computer Science in +2 as my optional subject which helped me make more familiar with computer terms and their functioning. I also learned about programming languages like ‘C’ and ‘HTML’. In the same way, I was greatly familiar with the Internet and computer networks as well. The more I learned about this field, the more I got fascinated by its versatility and diverse career opportunities. My thirst for learning about technology kept on rising. This unquenchable thirst for knowledge coupled with an inborn drive to do something different has always been the crucial factor influencing my choices, eventually placing me on the brink of such a challenging line of study. Yet, the lack of in-depth knowledge of the subject leaves the conceptual skills incomplete. Therefore, I would like to pursue a course that not merely supplements the knowledge I possess but also provide a strong foundation for my research-oriented study, which would allow me to explore the unknown in this world of IT. Since it is IT brings a continuous improvement in technology, I chose it as my major subject for my Diploma study.

Having made the decision of pursuing my further study in (Advanced) Diploma of Information Technology, I glanced at the universities and colleges here in Nepal where I can enroll for my desired course. In my locality, there were a few names that struck few names struck my mind when I ponder about studying Bachelor of IT here in Nepal. I further came to know about some colleges that provide 4-year programs under the Affiliation of the above-mentioned Universities. For example, Balkumari College offers a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology, Oxford College of Engineering and Management offers a Bachelor of Computer Application, Kantipur City College offers a Bachelor of Information Technology, Nepal College of Information Technology provides a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology, Birendra Multiple Campus provides Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology. The considerable amount of options available in my home country made me think about getting enroll in one of them. But, luck is not always with you, with the research reaching the grass root level; it felt like the cons will get the better of the pros of these orthodox universities and colleges. First of all, the courses offered are outdated and the way students learn here is not flexible enough as well. As we witness invention and innovation every day in the field of technology, updated equipment is a must for a student to have a proper educational experience. But, in the context of Nepalese education providers’ the situation is quite pitiable, the world is progressing in machine learning and artificial intelligence, and what our labs have is a 90’s processor which ensures a student is deprived of up-to-date educational experience. As a result of mere knowledge-driven education rather than industrial-driven education, we, as a student, obtain degrees but not skills. Furthermore, the political instability in our country hampers a lot of education as well. The frequent strikes inside and outside of universities often disturb the regular classes. Let it be the postponed entrance exam or its result, the late final exams, or its schedule, there is only one party facing the undeserved oppression, students. Besides, the single intake per year that too with limited seats governed by politicians makes sure a student like me will have a hard time getting into the universities of own their choice.

Furthermore, I have done research in some of the top Colleges of Nepal which are affiliated with international universities like Islington College (http://islington.edu.np) International Institution of Management and Technology (ISTM) (http://ismt.edu.np), do provide the intended course in IT and, Nami College (http://nami.edu.np/)  and The British College (https://www.thebritishcollege.edu.np/) are providing similar course under the name ‘Computing’ in affiliation with universities of the UK. By studying at those colleges, I could be graduated with an international degree but I would lack the international standard required for practical education. And moreover, such a degree lacks global recognition in my upcoming career and it seems irrelevant to me to achieve my goal. With the availability of studying abroad options, those aforementioned facts led to a change in my thoughts regarding my intention of pursuing my higher education in Nepal as I can't compromise my interest and the quality of education I seek. After realizing studying abroad is the option I am going to trigger, I waste no time before surfing through our beloved internet to get rid of the dilemma about my next study destination like USA, Australia, UK, Japan, Germany, and so forth and as a social being, everyone wants to live in a peaceful society. And, it won't be a matter of pride if protecting yourself from possible attack is the first thing you have to worry about while getting out of your home and I found Australia is by far the best nation. Apart from the green pastures, kangaroos, koalas, and clean air and water, there are some other factors too which attract to show like its friendly, laid-back nature, excellent education system, and high standard of living.

Besides, the fact that international students in Australia are protected by different acts like the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and Education Service for Overseas Students (ESOS) boosted my confidence in choosing Australia as the country for my bachelor's degree. Tuition Protection Service (TPS) secures students from financial risk in case the institution in which we are studying is shut down. It is crystal clear that International students are provided with a safe and secure environment in Australia which makes the country an ideal place to pursue their higher education. Furthermore, in Australia, I will complete my Diploma within two and half years and then I decided to take the IELTS examination on 2nd September 2017 to be able to study in Australia. My result did not let me down as I got an overall 6.5 band with 7.0 in Listening, 6.0 in Reading, and 6.0 in both Writing and Speaking.

Ultimately, the one and only question being raised after getting my IELTS Score-card on my hand were regarding my education provider. I choose Australia for my forthcoming education but which institutions will I settle with?  I was in a state of dilemma, as, this decision would affect not merely my educational career but also my entire life.  I did not hesitate to surf a lot through internet and participate in different seminars to get the idea regarding several universities and institutes of Australia like Kent Institute of Australia Pty. Ltd., Southern Cross University, Charles Darwin University, University of Canberra, Monash University, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne Polytechnic, TAFE NSW, Victoria University, Melbourne Institute of Technology, Ransford and so on. Analyzing the institutions I am acquainted with, I realized Ransford is the one I am looking for. One of the major reasons that led me to choose Ransford is its flexible, innovative, and student-friendly place for learning, with a dynamic multicultural atmosphere with students from all around the globe. Similarly, it is more affordable than its counterparts. I have surfed much through various online contents, brochures, and booklets of Ransford, and I am quite assured that Ransford not only satisfies all my academic needs but also provides excellent facilities resources, and a great educational experience as a whole. It provides the kind of exposure needed to broaden students’ thinking and knowledge along with practical experiences, Ransford offers lots of student support, academic, financial, career, and personal counseling, and of course, free airport pick-up.

Ransford is a respected and popular provider in Melbourne, with a rapidly growing presence in the city. Students here are offered with the unique opportunity to integrate practical learning with traditional theory. The practical, personal, and empowering lifelong education provided by the institution, translates into successful avenues to employment for the student body. Ransford stands out from other educational institutions in Melbourne because it focuses on practical industry-relevant training designed in collaboration with Ransford and has international students coming to study there from over 10 countries. After all, I want to have a successful career in the IT field for that I decided to study Bachelor of Information Technology in Ransford.

The main reason for me to choose Melbourne to stay in is my campus location. The college I have chosen, Ransford is located in Melbourne, the second most largest and populous city in Australia. Melbourne is a mixture of great weather, a multicultural society, work opportunities, global network development, diverse festivals and events, exotic animals, breathtaking landscapes, great entertainment points, and lastly a better quality of life. (https://www.studymelbourne.vic.gov.au/why-study-in-melbourne). It is one of the most livable cities in Australia and has low crime rates, world-class healthcare, and leading educational institutions. Melbourne enjoys hot summers, warm springs, mild autumns, and crisp winters which is a favorable climate for Asian students like me. There is no end to dreamy summertime activities. Melbourne is also among the world’s most multicultural cities which means overseas students are readily accepted by others. Therefore, I chose Melbourne to stay in for my further education in Bachelor of Information Technology.

Information technology trains students to apply the fundamental principles of computer science as they learn how to design, develop, implement, operate and maintain computer systems utilized in scientific, business, and systems programming applications. Students employ acquired computer skills and knowledge to the solution of real-world problems. The program that I am going to take in Ransford, Diploma of Information Technology And advanced Diploma of information technology is a 2.5 years full-time course, divided into six semesters; two semesters per year. The course contains 24 units of which 15 are core units (mandatory), 6 are specializations/majors and 3 are electives. The classes here will be delivered in the mode of laboratory, seminars, workshops, lectures, and so forth. This course is designed to provide theoretical knowledge and high-level vocational skills in information technology with a business focus, meeting the needs of local and multinational organizations, as well as the broader business community. As a student, I can learn up-to-date, industry-relevant skills consistent with the emerging trends in information technology.

I will have to study the subjects during my entire course Effective Business Enquiry and Communication, Foundations of Information Technology, Foundations of Business, Essential Business Mathematics And Statistics, Programming Concepts, Network Communication Concepts, Systems Analysis, Supply Chain Management, And E-Business, Database Systems, System Design And Development, Network Design, Enterprise Resources, Object Oriented Programming, Professional It Practice, And Ethics, It Project Management, Network Security and so forth. This degree can prepare me to pursue career advancement in the field of information technology. I will be able to explore ways to communicate and apply core information technologies professionally as well as evaluate, design, and implement systems based on IT methodology.

Following the passion without good career prospects would be a challenging thing to do and a bit silly as well. Thank god, that is not the case with me, IT engineers and programmers are one of the most sought-after skilled manpower in today's world. Nowadays, every firm and organization requires computers, and computers need someone to handle them, as a result, the job opportunity for IT graduates is skyrocketing. Similarly, I am attracted to the flexibility this sector offers in terms of career options. As a graduate of Information Technology, I will have a wide variety of career opportunities available. I may work as a Network Security Specialist, e-Security Specialist, Web Security Engineer, Information Security Analyst, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Consultant, Data Analyst, Software Developer, and Programmer. As an IT graduate, I can choose my career type by my personal preferences. As personal satisfaction also plays a key role in my career decision, I don't think I will regret choosing this field. In addition, the large number of fields to choose from and the amount of money offered in these fields motivated me to choose this career path. And, the future I believe, I will have with further studies in this discipline, made me feel like, I am not merely choosing the subject of my interest but also the demand of the age.

After the completion of my Diploma in Information Technology from Ransford, I will be eligible to apply for Post Study Work which will provide me with the essential skill and experience along with the degree which will be very beneficial for my career development when I return to my motherland. I have a dream of working as an IT specialist or a Network specialist and conducting research on developing productive software and network. This job includes many things starting from setting up, administering, maintaining, and also upgrading communication systems. With almost every organization and company going digital nowadays, there is and will be a huge demand for IT engineers and programmers in the capital Kathmandu, my hometown Gorkha and other metropolitan across the country. Therefore, I don't think I will have a hard finding a decent job with a handsome salary, especially, having a respected degree from a country like Australia Nepal, or otanotherations too. That’s why I am confident in being able to use the experience and skills gained from Australia for the benefit of me and my country. Network analysts, Network administrators, and network security specialists are the few positions I wish to work at. And, for that, there are many governmental and private IT companies seeking enthusiastic graduates like me. Some of the major private firms are Cloud Factory, Ncell, EB Pearls, Leapfrog Technologies, Access Keys, and Log Point Nepal. I would be glad to start my professional career in one of the renowned IT companies with an attractive monthly salary. With a few years of experience in this field, I would love to establish my own firm.

I have loads of responsibilities and concerns for my family. My parents are expecting much from my side in near future with both of them agings. I will be undeniably willing to get back to my country being a responsible son of my parents and a patriotic son of my motherland. My country, Nepal, is in serious need of technological advancement and well-qualified human resources for speeding up its overall progress. The degree of my choice will add to up expertise and knowledge within me and I want to mobilize the learned skills as a contribution to my nation. Furthermore, in addition to my love for my motherland and my family, I have my own goal as well. I have always longed to build my own tech business. After getting enough knowledge and experience in this field, I will prefer to work for myself. In other words, I prefer entrepreneurship over a job. Entrepreneurship has become a new trend that comes with its own challenges, and to overcome such hurdles, one needs to be more prudent. By putting on my best effort to know as much as possible about it, I find that to start a company, the best location for its establishment is my own country. We know more about our own country and its people. We know about the choices of people, their needs, and so on. I will surely develop more links and relationships with people from our own country than those from a foreign land. This will not only be beneficial to me but also to my entire nation. Taking these into account, it’s almost obvious that I will be on my home soil once I complete my studies to do the undone.
