 LESSON/TOPIC OBJECTIVEOn completion of the lesson, the students will:

v  recognize the organizational elements of several essay types, including the introduction, body, and conclusion, using rhetorical devices.

v  constitute in the essay form using narrative, descriptive, and persuasive techniques in the context of daily life.

v  organize their collective thought using a thesis statement, topic sentences, supports, and transitions.

Teaching Approaches/Context

Arrangement: It is the 2nd stage of the writing process. During arrangement, the writer either a teacher or the students decides how they are going to organize their ideas.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

v  Introduce text-based approaches to teaching general features of writing that characterize different text types, their structure and

v  Consider the rhetorical purposes of text types, particularly the notion of ‘narration/argument’ about   rhetorical purpose in academic writing, and highlight the function of evidence and synthesis in building argument;

v  look at aspects of writing including degrees of formality, the personal voice, and linguistic accuracy; introduce process-based approaches to teaching writing, including the stages of prewriting, drafting, and polishing a text; the use of peer review, and issues related to collaborative writing; discuss how to integrate the teaching of the writing process with teaching specific text types and disciplinary forms of writing.

Cognitive Indicators: a. Product 1.Writing a five paragraphs essay’s structure in the form of narration.

b. Process: 1. Write a narrative essay on Ethos, Logos, and Pathos.

2. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the following as thesis statements.

a.       My instructor has an attendance policy.

b.      My instructor should change her attendance policy because it is bad.

c.       My instructor should change her attendance policy because it is unreasonable & inflexible.

3.  Ask your senior sibling brother/sister/parents/neighbors about the techniques of writing.
